The Port is working on the permit application for a proposed Rail/Barge Transfer Facility to allow oversize containers to be delivered to the Everett Boeing plant at Paine Field. This facility would support current aircraft programs at the plant, as well as future aircraft programs. The facility would serve as a satellite facility to the Port’s existing deep-water marine terminals in Port Gardner Bay. Containers that exceeded the normal 8 foot width would be loaded on barges at the existing facility and shipped to the satellite facility. Once the containers are off-loaded at the new Rail/Barge facility, several rail cars would be made into a short train and moved up Japanese Gulch to the Boeing plant.

Please continue to check this site for updates on the construction of the Rail/Barge.
